．個人感想．

這是我專輯裡最喜歡的一首歌

這首的創作動機是

Tyler看到一個朋友將他死去兒子的房間保持原封不動

這讓Tyler不禁開始思考人們會在他死後怎麼處理他的房間

在這整首歌裡

「房間」都被比喻成是每個人的人生

房間凌亂就代表生活沒有目標、很混亂

Tyler認為他自己的「房間」是很雜亂的

但他在猶豫

死後究竟要讓世人記住他真實且自認醜陋的模樣

抑或是重新包裝、裝潢過後的自己

另外值得一提的是

在這首歌詞裡解釋到了這張專輯的名稱由來

「Scaled」 代表著「scale back」(被削減意志或減少動力)，而「Icy」指「isolated」(被孤立或被迫孤獨的)

Tyler表示2020是很糟的一年

尤其疫情的關係

每個人都必須守在家防疫

然而在家待久了容易導致意志消沉且備受孤立

因此他決定用這張專輯給大家打氣、陪伴大家

這名字還有個有趣的點是

「Scaled and Icy」是「Clancy is Dead」(Clancy為上張專輯Trench的故事主角)的anagram(易位構詞)

即字母相同但順序相異的詞

這設計的真的很巧妙

「Clancy is Dead」代表著上一張專輯Trench的結束

再以「Scaled and Icy」代表著新專輯

完美無縫銜接

在專輯名稱上如此琢磨的歌手我還沒遇過

我今天才發先原來TØP有特地為Trench的故事架設一個網站

了解後我才知道原來那故事的架構遠超於我的想像
