Pantaloon根據Merriam Webster的解釋(https://reurl.cc/j8Elvy)

是指義大利即興喜劇(Commedia dell'arte)中的一個角色

通常是一個骨瘦如柴的傻老頭

他戴著眼鏡穿著緊身褲搭配絲襪及拖鞋

而在這首歌裡

Tyler將它暗示為老人癡呆的擬人化

整首歌就有如故事一般

講述著主角在看著自己的父親、祖父不斷走向癡呆

甚至生命盡頭的同時

沒有意識到自己也正慢慢跟上他們的步伐

而正因為如此

他越長大越討厭並排斥自己的父親

認為他就有如Pantaloon一般

「失去理智、不可理喻」

我個人很喜歡中間那段

描述他父親過去是如何辛苦奔波、養家活口的

我不能說我深有同感

畢竟我還沒身為人父

不過看到我爸每天在外打拼

回到家還不願浪費時間坐在沙發上休息

只為了多跟自己的小孩互動的樣貌

我真的心有戚戚焉

不知道將來他老了之後

像故事裡的主角父親回想起這段時光時

他是否會覺得這段記憶是美好且值得保留的呢?

事實上

我也不確定我會不會希望那時他像故事一樣

坐在椅子上只為平靜地度下半輩子

我會很想叫他把過去奉獻給我們的時間

在那時補給自己

不過他現在付出了這麼多

到了那個時候我大概也沒有資格去要求他更多事了吧

只希望他能夠以他自己滿意的模樣度完餘生
