．給不熟悉Trench世界觀的人的簡要名詞解釋．

Dema:故事中最主要的城市，象徵著抑鬱、消極和不自由

Clancy:故事中的主角，曾沉迷在Dema營造出來的安逸幻覺中，現在為banditos其中一員

Trench(壕溝):分隔Dema與外界，亦為專輯名稱

banditos(土匪):極力想逃離Dema的人們，但被困在了Trench

nine bishops(九位主教):為統治Dema的人物，即niners

Nico:全名Nicolas Bourbaki，為九位主教中的一員，象徵焦慮和抑鬱

．個人感想．

這首歌同時探討了兩件事情

一是為了逃避焦慮和抑鬱

我們強行將自己塑造成跟原本完全不同的人

二是人們對死亡的不同看法

講到前者

Tyler指的尤其是在自己的黑暗面(blurry face, from Stress Out)、禿鷹(a vulture, from Levitate)和囚犯(a prisoner, from Heavydirtysoul)三者中交替變換

它聲稱是為了自衛而被迫以各種身分藏匿

雖然這樣可以逃避許多事情

但同時卻也失去了許多

像是它的好友或是自己的初衷等

再論後者

我很喜歡Tyler以「above」、「under」和「around」三個詞來比喻三種人對死亡的見解

先講under

也就是所謂的虛無主義者

Tyler認為他們對於死亡是完全沒有想法的

他們只有「死了也好，不死也罷」這種想法

對死亡沒有特別想法同時就代表

他們不排斥自殺、早死或非自然死亡等事情

這讓Tyler不是很欣賞這種態度

而around

比喻人文主義者

他們相信人類是萬能的

且科學能勝過死亡

但是以現代科技來講

這只是天馬行空

因此Tyler也排斥這種思維

最後提到above

換言之即有神論者

即使Tyler本身是虔誠的基督徒

然而他還是覺得信仰對於死亡只是盲目的安全感

不可否認

信仰的確是迷失靈魂的慰藉

不過部分人們卻真的只把其當作慰藉

並未如聖經(或各宗教書籍)所述

為感恩報答耶穌的犧牲而過好自身的生活

Tyler認為現代人大都以忘卻宗教實際的意義

絕對不是嘴巴說說相信某件事而已

而是要實際去做到符合教義的事情

信耶穌不一定能上天堂

要相信自己才行

這次個人感想部分宗教含量有點高

我也不是很清楚

大都只是融合網路上各方討論而已

我只加入了一點點自己主觀的看法
